| Description | De Kroon Estate, consisting of two farms, lies on the Escarpment outside Machadodorp, Mpumalanga, 2 hours from Johannesburg and Pretoria. The bottom farm of 173 hectares was purchased in 1990 and the farm above it, 170 hectares was purchased 8 years later.
With leaking dams, dormant lands, a broken, disused farmhouse and access across the river on a rickety old steel bridge - investment began. Firstly, a new bridge was constructed to handle the weight of the equipment that was to come and allow for easy access. The river that borders the eastern side of the Estate was redirected and a weir was built. The swamp land created through the ill design of small Trout Dams was drained and a new Trout Dam constructed. Alien trees were cut down to make charcoal. The cottage on the top farm was refurbished. An enclosable Lapa was added as well as a outside shower. Lands were ploughed, fertilized and planted. The entire perimeter was fenced and Cattle and Sheep were brought on to graze the grasslands. De Kroon Estate yielded its first crop of Soya Beans in 2008. The farm has been used ever since as a close weekend getaway and although many ideas have come and gone on what to do with it, it was only until mates started to get engaged and bachelor parties began to happen did we realize that we had the perfect getaway to host these occasions. After countless weekends of being with friends and family, laughing, fishing and heavily overindulging, did we realize that other people should be able to experience a weekend away out of the city. De Bachelor was born. |

* Take the N3 as if going to the Airport * Take the N12 Witbank * Stay on N12 till it joins the N4 (don’t take the R28 to Airport) * Go through Middleburg Tollgate * Keep on N4 Belfast * +- 80 km you will see an Engen on the Right * Carry on straight on the N4 after 20Km a Caltex will be on you left. Measure 1.9 km and turn left onto a small farm road. Carry on until the farm house where we will leave the cars (unless you have a fair ground clearance, 4x4 is however not necessary) The Hilux will take you to the venue. |
